Lead cinematographer and owner Jamie Podworski started filming weddings in Western Massachusetts in 2005 and JPod Films quickly expanded its reach to become one of the leading Boston Wedding Cinematographers by 2008. Jamie and his staff are now traveling all over New England and beyond covering weddings and enjoying every minute of it. "Our goal is to tell your story through our highlight, short and feature films, which capture the anticipation, emotion and energy of your wedding day. We don't want you to just watch your film, we want you to feel like your right back in the moment."
Tara: Tell me how you first got involved with your business.
JPod Films: As a former television videographer, reporter and anchor, I always wished I had a little more time, and a little more freedom to make our news stories, well, a little more creative. It was hard in the deadline-driven industry of television to take videos to the next level. It wasn't until I filmed the wedding of a high school football coach that everything changed for me. It was the first time that I not only had a chance to create what I wanted, but felt like I really owned a project. That wedding turned into the snowball of referrals that led to JPod Films.
Tara: What is the most surprising thing you’ve had happen to you on the job?
JPod Films: The most surprising thing that happened was in my second year of filming weddings. A rainy day forced an outdoor wedding into an indoor space that became standing room only and was slightly overcrowded. About one minute after the processional had completed, we had just set our cameras in place and the boss of the bride passed out in the standing area behind the chairs. Fortunately, he was O.K. and the belief was that the claustrophobic, hot atmosphere overwhelmed him.
Tara: What is your ideal Friday night?
JPod Films: My ideal Friday night is sitting home with a bowl of popcorn in front of the fire and television watching a movie with my wife and three girls. As for my Saturday night, that ideal night would include a babysitter and a nice dinner date with my wife.
Tara: What is something you like to do during your free time?
JPod Films: I enjoy anything that is active. I enjoy running and biking, as well as playing ice hockey. I also love playing soccer and tennis with my daughters and watching them grow and enjoy these activities as well.
Tara: When you travel, what do you like to do (adventure, relaxation, food, etc.)?
JPod Films: Ahhhh, relaxation! I do play hard at everything else I do, so I like to travel to warm destinations for a relaxing time.
Tara: What is the last book you read?
JPod Films: Tribes by Seth Godin
Tara: Which movie genre do you prefer?
JPod Films: I love a good comedy.
Tara: What is the last movie you saw in the theaters?
JPod Films: Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Tara: Which music genre do you prefer?
JPod Films: I am a top 40 guy overall, but I still love some alternative music from time to time.
Tara: Your idea of adventure is:
JPod Films: Anything that goes really fast!
Tara: What are three life memories you recall most frequently and why?
JPod Films: I recall the days my three daughters were born. Those were just such amazing days!
Tara: Tell me something that most people don’t know about you.
JPod Films: The first plane I ever flew in, I jumped out. (skydiving)
Tara: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
JPod Films: Treat other people better than how you want to be treated.
