A word from Tricia: I met Shawn and Mallory just after Thanksgiving for their engagement session at Kennedy Park in Lenox, MA. The couple currently lives in Denver, CO but was in town to spend the holiday with Mallory's parents. They brought Chester, their new puppy, with them to the session, which I loved!
It had just snowed the day before, and the backdrop could not have been more perfect with the snow-lined trees against the setting sun. I was a little worried about shooting them in the cold, as this snow was sort of unexpected, but then found out they met in Alaska. I immediately felt better knowing that they understood cold and it wouldn't scare them off at all.
I love the story of how they met and how Shawn proposed. I'lll let Mallory tell it in her own words:
"Shawn and I met in Fairbanks, Alaska while pursuing graduate degrees in Music Performance. (He's a percussionist and I'm a classical pianist). As much as we loved Fairbanks and cabin life we moved to Denver, Colorado three and a half years ago for more opportunity.
The proposal: As a freelancer, I get contacted by new people all the time. Last April a woman who owned an event planning company contacted me to book me to play at several weddings. She asked to meet at a community center nestled in the flatirons of Boulder, CO to discuss details etc. I drove out there and to my huge surprise, Shawn was there looking very handsome in his suit! He walked me into the snowy park and proposed in front of the mountains :)"
It sounds like the Berkshires is the perfect place for this awesome couple to get married. Shawn and Mallory will be back this September for their Berkshires wedding at Chesterwood in Stockbridge, MA. It is one of my favorite places to shoot a wedding, and I can't wait to see these wonderful people again soon!
